DreamSerene Frequently Asked Questions

  1. Is it recommended that I wash my mattress and pillow protector before I put them on my bed?
Yes, because the fabric is starched for easier cutting during production. Therefore, washing will remove the starch.
  2. Which side should be visible when my mattress cover is placed on my mattress? The side that is cotton top and absorbent should be visible when placed on the mattress.
  3. At what temperature should I wash my mattress cover and and pillow protectors? DreamSerene™ products in the 200 and 300 series should be washed with hot water.
  4. Can I dry my mattress cover in the dryer? Yes, you can tumble dry your mattress pad at low 40º C/104º F and always dry together with other linens.
  5. Can I dry clean my mattress cover and pillow protector? No, chemicals used when dry cleaning will destroy the Wet Block Technology™ barrier.
  6. Can I use bleach when I wash my mattress cover? No, because the bleaching process will destroy the Wet Block Technology™ barrier.
  7. Can I hang my mattress cover out in the sun to dry? Yes, you may hang your mattress pad out to dry, do not expose directly to sun.
  8. Can I iron my mattress cover?
No, do not iron your mattress cover because it could damage the Wet Block Technology™ barrier.
  9. Does the skirt need to go directly under the mattress? No, as long as the four corners of the mattress cover are secure.
  10. Are the sides of the mattress pad covered under warranty? Warranties for DreamSerene™ mattress covers in the 300 series cover the top and the sides. DreamSerene products in the 200 series only cover the sleeping surface (also referred to as the top of the mattress). Please see the terms of the warranty for further details.
  11. Will the mattress cover protect me against dust mites? Yes, the mattress cover will protect you against dust mites because our Wet Block Technology barrier does not allow dust mite feces to penetrate though. The size of the feces particle is larger than the pore of the Wet Block Technology barrier.
  12. What is Wet Block Technology? Wet Block Technology is a revolutionary polyurethane barrier film that provides stain, waterproof, and allergen protection to your mattress.
  13. Will the mattress cover protect my mattress from stains? Yes, Wet Block Technology is designed to prevent liquid from penetrating through the mattress cover. Therefore, it will protect your mattress from getting stained.
  14. My cat urinated on my bed, no liquid or stains got through my mattress cover, however there is a strong smell of urine. Why? The mattress cover is designed to be impermeable to liquids but permeable to gasses and vapours. Therefore if the smell of the urine gets into the mattress, it might penetrate the barrier and permeate the mattress. Just use a readily available odour eliminator, and this should solve your problem.
  15. What do I do if I spill something on my mattress cover? Machine wash using warm/hot water and tumble dry at medium temperature as quickly as possible after spillage, preferably while still fresh and wet.
  16. My protector has brown scuff marks on the Wet Block Technology barrier. The product has been subjected to excessive heat.. This is not covered by the DreamSerene warranty.
  17. My mattress cover has bubbles or blistering appearing on the Wet Block Technology barrier. The temperature settings on your tumble dryer are set above the normal temperature causing the Wet Block Technology™ barrier to soften and pull away from the cotton comfort layer. This is not covered by the DreamSerene warranty.
  18. The Wet Block Technology has changed colour over time. Will this affect the integrity of the protector? No, the discolouration of the Wet Block Technology barrier is a normal occurrence. It might be more pronounced depending on exposure to light, water and body acidity. This is considered normal wear and tear as far as our warranty is concerned.
  19. Does the DreamSerene warranty cover stains? No, stains are not covered under the DreamSerene warranty.
